Chronos Series Timepix3-based Detection Systems

Here's why our event-based and data driven detectors stand out:

1) Unmatched Speed

Experience the unparalleled temporal resolution of 1.56 ns. To put this into perspective, in a frame-based system this translates to 600 MHz. Our pixel readout, developed in collaboration with NIKHEF, operates independently for each pixel, eliminating deadtime and yielding event-data with nanosecond granularity.

2) Event Rate

Capture up to a staggering 300 million hits per second; enabling state-specific large field readout of atomic lattices, quantum correlations in many single-photon interactions, large molecule imaging analysis, and observation of bright scintillators.

3) Noise Free

Enjoy noise-free detection at room temperature. No need for external cooling devices.

4) Seamless Data Integration

Worry less with our flexible API-based control software and GUI for previewing. You may script the detector operation to fully automate the data acquisition and integrate seamlessly with the whole experiment.

Which Chronos Series product is best for you?

[ Application-specific packages tailored to your needs: Quantum ScienceNeutron Science and VMI & Mass Spectroscopy(coming soon) ]

1. Quantum Science Apllications

● Intensified system

● Wavelength rage 200-920 nm

● Data processing algorithms

● Access to ASI's quantum user-community

Due to the event-based nature of the Timepix3 technology, with nanosecond time tagging capabilities, you can effortlessly distinguish and remove randomly distributed noise from your signals. This brings a new level of clarity and precision to your data analysis, enabling breakthroughs and insights that were previously hidden in the noise.

We understand that transitioning to event-based technology might be a significant departure from the familiar frame-based approach. We are committed to guide you through this transition and provide different levels of the support you need to harness the full potential of this groundbreaking technology.

Single-photon sensitivity

The Cricket image intensifier from our partner is specially optimised for ultra-fast single-photon detection. Equipped with high efficiency Dual MCP and P47 phosphor screen for high amplification and the fastest spectral response in the market.

1) Minimal dark count rates at room temperature

Forget about long integrations to achieve a high Signal-to-Noise ratio (SNR). The dark counts for Hi-QE UV and Green are only 50 Hz/cm2 and 100 kHz/cm2 for the Hi-QE Red at room temperature!

2) Fast temporal response phosphor screens

Equipped with P47 phosphor screen you get the fastest response in the market. Coupled with advanced clustering algorithms and time-calibration techniques, this detector is enhancing your single-photon research.

3) Achieving sub-nanosecond time resolution

Nanosecond gating options are available allowing you to time-stamp with sub-nanosecond resolution in combination with external TDCs, which carry a time-resolution of 260 picoseconds.

Which product is best for you?

1.1 Phoebe, the single-photon TPX3CAM

● Intensified system

● Wavelength range 200 - 920 nm

● Ultrafast comprehensive tpx3 data analysis

Why land on Phoebe?

Because Phoebe helps the quantum photonics community detect, image and time-stamp single photons by.....

Eliminating noise

Phoebe is a hybrid pixel detector that uses sophisticated on-chip electronics for real-time signal processing. Each pixel in Phoebe has its own individual threshold and event counter, enabling noise-free data acquisition. Unlike CCDs, you won't need to conduct long experiments to integrate signals for an acceptable Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR). Phoebe offers ultra-high SNR since it only counts and time-stamps individual signals, allowing for sophisticated time-resolved data analysis.

Offering data-driven detection

Data is only read-out when an event, a "hit" , occurs on the sensor's surface. This results in a more manageable data load, prioritising quality over quantity. In contrast to conventional CMOS technology, Phoebe eliminates the unwanted consequences of serial, frame-based read-out such as slow readout, binning, smearing effects.

Enabling simultaneous acquisition of data and images

Phoebe can precisely time-stamp data at a remarkable 1.56 ns granularity. But that's not all - you can seamlessly synchronize external signals through a Time-to-Digital Converter (TDC), enhancing your time resolution by up to 260 ps. Using this information, you can select time-windows in your continuous data to create an image.

Allowing easy integration to your experiment

Our API (Serval) and GUI (Accos) facilitate cross-instrument control and data collection. You can configure the TDCs to integrate with external hardware such as a pulsed source. The acquisition workflow is fully programmable which allows for streamlined data collection.

Being a Plug-and-Play Solution

Within hours, you'll witness your first data and process them with our dedicated processing toolkit called LUNA (Logical UNiform Analysis). LUNA is a post-processing software solution we developed in collaboration with Peter Svihra, an expert user of Timepix-3 technology. The software kit eliminates the need for extensive programming giving you a head start and saving your team valuable time.

LumaCAM & Diffraction

What is Neutron Imaging?

In neutron transmission imaging or neutron radiography, neutrons pass through an object to reveal its internal structure. This is very similar to X-ray imaging. In general, neutrons are complementary to X-rays and often employed when X-rays do not provide enough penetration for dense materials or when heavy materials are imaged in the presence of light materials. However, neutron detection systems are often subject to high background noise that is inherent with the neutron production at the various large- and small-scale facilities. Regular camera systems integrate during individual neutron exposures and generally do not provide a mechanism to discriminate particles, e.g. neutrons from gammas, which is required particularly for low flux applications, such as energy-resolved neutron imaging or diffraction.

ASI and LoskoVision have developed the LumaCAM System, an innovative solution which enables researchers to overcome the limitations of regular camera systems and enable neutron counting for imaging applications. The LumaCAM System provides high resolution in space and time for a broad range of neutron applications!

LumaCAM System

LumaCAM System incorporates the LumaCAM to offer neutron researchers a complete event-based solution. The system features a counting-type neutron detection, specialized light tight enclosure, and adjustable Field-of-View (FoV)
