GeoDict Interfaces — Data Import, Export & Results Processing
GeoDict provides a comprehensive set of interfaces that enable seamless data exchange between the software and your existing development tools. From importing raw image data and CAD geometries, to exporting simulation results to third‑party analysis software, GeoDict ensures smooth integration into your workflow. The interfaces fall into three main categories: Data Import for bringing in external data, Results Processing for post‑processing and analysis within Excel or MATLAB, and Data Export for transferring structures to CAD or CAE applications.
Data Import
GeoDict supports the import of various data sources through its built‑in modules. The ImportGeo-Vol module reads 3D image data from µCT, FIB‑SEM, and other tomographic techniques, supporting formats such as RAW, TIFF, DICOM, and many others. The ImportGeo-CAD module imports CAD geometries (STL, STEP, IGES, etc.) and converts them into voxel‑based models for simulation. These import tools form the first step in creating digital twins of real materials.
Results Processing
GeoDexcel — Microsoft Excel® Interface
GeoDexcel enables detailed post‑processing of simulation results directly within Microsoft Excel. It automatically loads result files from GeoDict modules (e.g., FilterDict, PoroDict) into spreadsheets, provides preset charts for visualization, and supports automatic comparison of multiple datasets. This module is included in the GeoDict Base license and is ideal for users who prefer to analyze data in Excel.
GeoLab — MATLAB® Interface
GeoLab is a collection of MATLAB functions and scripts that allow users to run GeoDict from MATLAB and further process simulation results within the MATLAB environment. It provides a convenient bridge between MATLAB‑based problems and GeoDict’s extensive functionality, enabling automated data exchange and custom analysis. GeoLab is also included in the Base license.
MeshGeo — Triangular Mesh Creation
MeshGeo converts GeoDict models — whether generated microstructures or segmented CT images — into triangular surface meshes (STL format). It offers utilities for mesh refinement, smoothing, and quality assessment, making the models ready for use in external CAD or FEM software.
Data Export Extensions
ExportGeo-CAD – Exports GeoDict structures to standard CAD formats (STL, VRML, OBJ, and with CADlook also X_T, IGS, STEP, and SAT). This allows seamless transfer of digital material models to external CAD systems for further design or manufacturing.
ExportGeo-Fluent – Converts voxel‑based material models into computational setups for heat and flow simulations with Ansys Fluent, including all necessary mesh and boundary condition data.
ExportGeo-Abaqus – Exports structural models along with material properties and boundary conditions for mechanical simulations with Abaqus, enabling coupled structural analysis outside GeoDict.
Export Module – Provides additional export options, including videos, 3D PDFs, and direct export of result tables to Microsoft Excel.
These interfaces ensure that GeoDict fits seamlessly into your existing R&D ecosystem, allowing you to leverage the power of digital material simulation while maintaining compatibility with your preferred analysis and design tools.
